I am writing this blog from Dubai Airport. I am using free internet through Wi-Fi connection.
Signal strength is good in all places. But the problem is power point. My plug cannot be inserted in the point. It is of different design. At last I had to buy a universal power plug. That thing is very nice. But it costs 33 $. But I am happy. I wish I will never have to bother again about the power point design in different places in future.

Hidden Agenda - A Game
When computer games means mainly Doom or Quake types of games, then the old DOS games will not have any market, this is for sure. But sometimes few old DOS games deserves more attention.
One of such game is Hidden Agenda. This game was made by Jim Gasperini. It is a political simulation.
You start as a newly appointed president of Chimerica (imaginary country in North America). You are the first president after a ruthless dictator is removed through a revolution.
The game simulates a very real world. You get the taste of being a president. How it feels when you are under pressure from so many corners. How tough it is to convert your ideals into reality. Most of the times how it is impossible to do what you want.
A small games teaches more than I imagined. A whole semester in university learning dull political science would teach me a lot less. Atleast I think so.
This game gave me a feelings that, computer games have much more potential than what it displays today.

Yahoo Voice Chat Trough Mobile GPRS
Accident is mother of invention!
I was trying to chat with my wife and accidentally discovered a process by which you can voice chat using GPRS.
In Bangladesh and Africa, GPRS speed is very less. So if you connect your computer to internet through Mobile GPRS, in my experience, you are not like to succeed in voice chat through Google Talk or Yahoo Messenger. The internet speed will not be enough to allow good voice chat.
But, there is a 'but'. It was a discovery by accident. I invited my sister and wife to a 'conference' using (allowing connection to voice server) yahoo messenger. I found we could talk smoothly!
Sometimes the speed was as low as 1 kb/sec, but still we could talk. Believe it or not!
But we tried 'calling the computer' in Yahoo Messenger, it did not work smoothly. We could barely hear each other.
I was talking to my wife using MTN GPRS (South Africa based mobile company). They gave Free GPRS for few months as promotional campaign. Since it was free, speed was too less. But still I could talk to my wife in Bangladesh. Ultimately it was free for me.
Sad news is, MTN GPRS is not free anymore.
Afterwards I came to know that Yahoo uses a different technology from Google Talk or Skype, which allows the user to do conference voice chat (Talking to more than one person at a time). Something must be there in this 'Yahoo Voice Conference' which enables low speed voice data communication.

Slam Dunk
I had a belief that dunk can only be possible by tall players. Dunk (slamming the basketball inside the ring) is a common scene in NBA games. I heard about Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Dominique Wilkins etc. as the best dunkers in the world.
But I came to know that in last years (2006) NBA slam dunk competition, the winner was Nate Robinson, who is only 5 feet 7 and half inch tall! I saw his video in YouTube. Amazing! Then I started research on this matter and came to know that, 'Spud Webb' was another player who was only 5 feet 5 inch tall, became winner of NBA slam dunk competition in 1986, beating Dominique Wilkins!! I had to see the video in YouTube to believe it.
So height is not the barrier! You can dunk if you are shorter than 6 feet. But you have to have a very good 'Vertical Leap' (ability to jump high). It requires tremendous muscle strength and quick movement of ankle and knee.
This year (2007), Nate Robinson could not win. He lost the contest. But he and Spud webb won my heart long ago. Bravo!

Rape of Iraqi Girl
Sometime some news are so brutal that it really makes me feel like we are living in hell. When I read the story of 14 years old Iraqi girl, who was raped and killed and had her parents murdered by US soldiers, I really could not believe it. It is not uncommon but, why people are so brutal? They have no human qualities. The 'Human Rights Organization' might call them 'human', but are they 'human' really?
Think about the mental and physical agony she was going through when she was being raped and also heard that her parents are killed in the other room.
Those US soldiers are not exceptions and not only to be blamed. This brutality happens in all rape and killing incidents. Sometimes I feel, exemplary punishment are required to bring these inhuman beasts to sense.
Yesterday I also ran into another news about sister of Kangana Ranaut (Actress of 'Woh Lamhe'). She was attacked by acid in a Rangoli event.
This type of news are always so painful. We don't know when we also become victims. Should we wait till then? Should we not try to make it a better place for our children? We brought our innocent children in this world, should we leave them with all these sufferings?
I have no answer. I only pray to god, so that he gives us strength.

First Blog
My first blog.
Cricket:
I am looking forward to cricket world cup. I wish Bangladesh 'best of luck'. I think the Bangladesh cricket team is now in a better shape. But the group is tough. We have to beat India or Sri Lanka to get to super eight. It will be really tough.
Australia has started loosing matches. Good sign. They were becoming unbeatable. It was frustrating. I like them though. But they should loose, otherwise winning will have no meaning.
Movie :
Watched 'Nowhere in Africa'. A beautiful movie. Liked the way a character changes with experience.
Watched 'Match Point'. Woody Allen movie. Nice movie. Main theme is to show how luck is important in someone's life. I was moved. Luck is very important. I think I am going to look at life differently from now on.
That's all for today. Bye.
